Meta Hyperion data center: Richland Parish contractors and jobs

Research checked October 19, 2026. We update this report when new contractor, hiring, permit or schedule information can be verified.

Meta’s Hyperion data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana, has grown into a planned 5-gigawatt campus with more than $50 billion in announced investment. For a Louisiana contractor, the first move is to register with Source Louisiana and contact the builder responsible for the relevant work. For a tradesperson, start with the employer listings below, not the projected construction headcount.[1][2]

Meta identifies DPR Construction, Turner Construction Company and Mortenson as its three general contractors. Their pages provide separate routes for trade partners and workers.[1][8][9] This guide explains those routes and separates campus work from Entergy’s power projects.

Hyperion project facts

Question Verified answer
Where is the project? Richland Parish in northeast Louisiana. The state’s expansion announcement identifies Holly Ridge; inspected employer listings use Rayville. Confirm the worksite and gate with the hiring company.[2][29]
What is Hyperion? Meta’s AI training cluster at the Richland Parish Data Center. The announced campus buildout is 5 GW of compute capacity, not a measurement of current operating load.[1][7]
How large is the expanded campus? Louisiana Economic Development reports nearly 10 million square feet in the July 2026 expansion. Older contractor pages still describe a 4-million-square-foot campus.[2][9]
What is the investment? More than $50 billion announced in July 2026. The October 2025 joint venture separately described approximately $27 billion of development costs. Do not add those figures together.[1][3]
How many jobs are forecast? Meta forecasts more than 7,500 workers at peak construction and 1,000 operational roles after completion. Neither figure is a count of vacancies available today.[1]
What is the supplier entry point? Source Louisiana, designated by Meta as the default platform for companies seeking work at the site. It is a statewide supplier directory, not a list of awarded or open packages.[1][11]
When will it open? CNBC reported Meta spokesperson targets of 2 GW by 2030 and the full 5 GW around 2032. Those are reported targets, not guaranteed delivery dates for individual buildings.[4]

Choose the right route for contracts or employment

Choose the route for the work you want. Meta and builder routes checked October 19, 2026 Registration is not an award or job offer
Original Echelon Reports route guide. Sources: Meta [1], Source Louisiana [11], prime qualification [16][18] and Entergy [19]. Registration is not an award or job offer. Open the full-size image for small-screen reading.

Choose the route that fits your goal. Companies need a buyer and permission to bid. Workers need an employer and a specific job opening.

Your objective Start here What to establish next
Louisiana business seeking subcontract work Source Louisiana and the relevant prime’s inquiry route below.[1][11] Exact scope, package buyer, qualification process and current bid schedule.
Construction worker seeking a position DPR’s project page, Mortenson’s project employment route, or Turner’s project resource page.[5][8][9] Requisition number, employer, assignment, pay, reporting location and start date.
Firm seeking power-generation or transmission work Entergy’s supplier route.[19] Utility package and buyer. Campus qualification does not establish utility eligibility.
New entrant seeking training Louisiana Delta Community College’s data center technician program or a trade-specific apprenticeship.[21][27] Entry requirements, funding, course dates and what employment help is actually offered.

Source Louisiana asks businesses to describe their services, certifications and capacity. Its stated purpose is to help buyers find and evaluate suppliers. Registration does not guarantee a business opportunity or constitute an endorsement by Louisiana Economic Development.[11]

Who is building the Richland Parish campus?

The three prime contractors describe different responsibilities. Use these scopes to direct an inquiry, but ask whether the buyer covers the original buildings, the expanded campus, or a specific infrastructure package. A historical appointment does not establish every subsequent award.

Company Documented role What the evidence does not settle
Turner Construction Company Its project resource page identifies four primary AI data center buildings. A separate expansion update reports interior work underway in the first buildings.[8][13] Current package availability and whether an individual trade award covers the new expansion.
DPR Construction Its December 2024 announcement identifies four data halls and a network building. DPR also states that it will perform substantial work with its own crews.[12] A complete current subcontractor roster or the remaining bid schedule.
Mortenson Its campus page identifies site preparation, grading, utilities, onsite power, water treatment, wastewater facilities and fiber distribution.[10] An award for Entergy’s offsite generation or transmission work.
US Engineering and Faith Technologies DPR names both as trade partners for mechanical and electrical systems in its original announcement.[12] Every building, contract value, later expansion award or current hiring need.

DPR’s original announcement also described more than 20 additional work packages to be procured. That is a historical procurement plan, not evidence that those packages remain open in October 2026.[12]

For ownership, distinguish Meta’s role from the financing structure. Meta’s October 2025 announcement said Blue Owl-managed funds would hold 80% of the joint venture and Meta 20%. The venture would develop and own the campus, while Meta would provide construction and property management services and lease the facilities.[3]

Before agreeing to work, identify the company that will sign your contract and pay your invoices. It may differ from the campus owner or financing partner.

How contractors can approach qualification

Prequalification is a builder’s review of your business before it can compete for work. Procurement is the process of buying and awarding the packages. Complete the right company review, then establish whether a relevant package is actually accepting prices.

Route What we inspected How to use it
Source Louisiana Public business-directory explanation and registration entry. Meta identifies it as the primary local supplier channel.[1][11] Describe actual capacity, certifications and services. Follow the prime’s separate qualification requirements.
Turner project interest form The project page links a form covering direct trade packages and related services, company certifications, project-size range and experience.[8][33] Select the work your company can perform. Request the current package number and deadline rather than relying on the resource page’s old 2025 procurement dates.
DPR project inquiry The page has separate “Trade Partner Opportunities” and “Vendor Opportunities” choices.[9] Explain the scope and ask which project buyer should receive your qualification information.
DPR prequalification DPR requires annual subcontractor prequalification to be eligible to bid and contract.[16] Use the official process alongside the project inquiry. A completed review is not a contract award.
Mortenson project inquiry The campus trade-partner page is specifically a Mortenson form. It asks work categories, certifications, project-size range and experience.[17] Route campus civil, utility and other relevant inquiries to the project team. This is not a directory of every campus subcontractor.
Mortenson prequalification Mortenson requires trade-partner prequalification and uses TradeTapp to administer the program.[18] Complete the corporate requirements, then establish the relevant project package and buyer.

The inspected pages did not provide a verified open package with a current submission deadline. That does not establish that no work is being bought. It means an interest form should not be presented as an invitation to bid.

Prepare a short company summary. Include your Louisiana license classifications, similar jobs, safety record, available crews and the work your employees can perform. Before pricing, ask for drawings, testing duties, insurance and bond requirements, payment terms and the schedule. This is a preparation checklist; each buyer sets its own requirements.

Where the different trades fit

Trade or service Evidence and useful inquiry
Civil, excavation, underground utilities and water Mortenson documents these campus responsibilities. Ask which packages remain, who holds the subcontract, and where utility work ends and building work begins.[10]
Concrete and structural work Turner’s interest form includes concrete, pumping, steel fabrication and erection. DPR’s project page links concrete and equipment-operator positions. These are inquiry categories and hiring signals, not a list of open trade contracts.[9][33]
Roofing, metal panels, framing and interiors Turner’s form accepts these work categories. Ask for the building number and whether purchasing is direct or through an existing subcontractor.[33]
Electrical, mechanical, HVAC and piping DPR’s announcement names its mechanical/electrical trade partners; Turner accepts electrical, HVAC and piping interest. Establish the actual package holder before pricing.[12][33]
Fiber, low voltage and communications Mortenson documents fiber distribution; its inspected Rayville cabling roles provide a separate employment route. Turner’s form includes low-voltage electrical work.[10][23][33]
Fire protection, rigging and construction support Turner’s form lists fire protection, equipment rigging, traffic control, surveying and construction cleaning. A form category shows where to inquire, not an awarded scope.[33]
Controls, testing and commissioning Ask the responsible prime who owns installation, startup, acceptance testing and documentation. We did not verify a complete package-holder list for these scopes.

Construction jobs checked for this report

We inspected the following six employer listings on October 19. DPR links the first three from its Richland Parish project page; their individual descriptions identify Rayville. Mortenson’s three descriptions also identify Rayville, but do not name Hyperion. Confirm the exact campus, package and start date with the employer before accepting an assignment.[22][23][24]

DPR: listings linked from the project page

All three displayed an October 18, 2026 posting date. The application links are employer-controlled. A posted role can fill before a reader applies.[29][30][31]

Role and requisition Work and stated requirements Employer listing
Appr Concrete, JR-17691 Basic concrete preparation, placement and finishing under supervision. High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience; 0–2 years in concrete or a related trade. OSHA 10 is preferred, with completion required within six months of hire.[29] Read the concrete apprentice listing
General Labor – Concrete, JR-17690 Site preparation, material handling and equipment maintenance. Diploma/GED or equivalent experience; 2–4 years in general labor, construction or a related field. OSHA 10 required.[30] Read the concrete labor listing
Journeyman Equipment Operator, JR-17687 Construction equipment operation and daily checks. Diploma/GED or equivalent experience; accredited operating-engineer apprenticeship or 2–4 years of relevant experience. OSHA 10 is preferred, with completion required within six months.[31] Read the equipment-operator listing

Mortenson: Rayville-area leads

These are useful local leads from a confirmed campus contractor. The individual descriptions do not establish assignment to a specific Hyperion building or package.

Role and requisition Work and stated requirements Employer listing
Craft Skilled Laborer, 22988 Construction labor and equipment/tool use. The description requires a completed two-year apprenticeship; it is not presented as a no-experience opening.[22] Read the skilled-laborer listing
Structured Cabling Installer, 22021 Cable-system installation work. Relevant experience preferred and a current driver’s license listed among qualifications.[23] Read the installer listing
Structured Cabling General Foreman, 22814 Cabling crew supervision. High school diploma or GED and at least five years of related experience.[24] Read the general-foreman listing

Do not assume that a “general labor” title means entry-level work. The DPR concrete labor listing requires experience, while its concrete apprentice listing provides a different entry route. Match the description to your experience before applying.[29][30]

Eight additional search-indexed Mortenson role URLs returned 404 during this review and were excluded. We did not verify project-specific wages, overtime guarantees, lodging or per diem for the six retained roles. Ask for those terms in writing rather than borrowing a rate from another contractor or a news headline.

Training and trade-hall contacts

Louisiana Delta Community College offers a four-week data center technician program. Its page lists a $3,698 cost, a minimum age of 18, and training that includes construction fundamentals, safety and data infrastructure. Listed certifications include OSHA 10 and Corning fiber-optic splicing.[27]

On October 19, the college listed a Winnsboro course for October 26–November 20 and a Monroe course for November 2–December 4. Confirm enrollment space, funding and the actual class calendar directly with the college.[27]

Meta announced $5 million for the college and full scholarships for eligible Richland Parish high-school graduates beginning with the class of 2026, covering data-center-related trade certificates or courses. Do not assume that every applicant qualifies or that a particular cohort is free.[1]

Business Insider’s October reporting describes graduates receiving offers from IES Communications and interviews students and instructors about the program. That is useful evidence of an employment pathway, not a promise of an IES or Meta offer to every future graduate.[6]

Organization Verified route What to ask
Louisiana Delta Community College Data center technician program.[27] Next available class, total cost, scholarship eligibility and employer introductions.
IBEW Local 446 Monroe-area electrical local, 318-323-3350. Its apprenticeship page lists documents, application hours, a $35 money-order fee and a drug-screening requirement.[20][21] Current referral eligibility or apprenticeship intake. Ask about the exact employer and site for any advertised call.
Ironworkers Local 623 Its official jurisdiction list includes Richland Parish. Hall contact: 225-357-3262.[32] Applicable referral process, current calls and required certifications.
UA Local 141 The United Association’s official directory lists the local in Shreveport at 318-671-1175.[26] Which local or office handles the exact Richland Parish site and whether a current piping or plumbing referral is available.

These are training and referral contacts, not confirmed Hyperion dispatches. We did not verify a dated project-specific hall call for electrical, piping, ironwork, operating engineers or laborers. Use the employer listings above for documented positions and the appropriate hall to check referral requirements.

Campus construction and power projects have different schedules

Keep campus and power-project figures separate. Meta, Louisiana Economic Development, Entergy and LPSC Not a time or capacity scale
Original Echelon Reports scope guide. Sources: Meta joint venture [3], expansion [1][2], Entergy proposal [28] and LPSC docket [34]. The columns are not a time or capacity scale. Open the full-size image for small-screen reading.

The July 2026 expansion is not simply a larger number attached to one construction contract. It includes a larger campus ambition and associated infrastructure needs. Keep three sets of figures separate:

Workstream or announcement What the source says Decision boundary
October 2025 campus joint venture Approximately $27 billion in development costs for buildings and long-lived power, cooling and connectivity infrastructure.[3] A dated financing and development scope, not the amount of open subcontract work.
July 2026 expanded campus More than $50 billion, 5 GW, nearly 10 million square feet and updated workforce forecasts.[1][2] The expanded plan supersedes older campus headlines; it does not identify every new trade award.
Entergy’s August 2025 approval Three new generating facilities and transmission investments. Entergy described targets of late 2028 for two Richland Parish facilities and end-2029 for Waterford.[15] Utility infrastructure approval and forecast dates, not campus building permits or verified energization.
Entergy’s 2026 additional proposal Seven gas-fueled plants totaling more than 5,200 MW, about 240 miles of 500-kV transmission, and storage at three locations.[28] A separate utility procurement and regulatory process. The LPSC U-37882 docket was marked Open when checked October 19.[34]

Do not add proposed generating capacity to the campus’s 5-GW compute figure. The units describe different parts of the system. The presence of an open expansion docket also does not establish that previously approved campus work has stopped.

We did not complete a permit-by-permit review of campus buildings or environmental approvals. A bidder should request the permit and drawing status for the actual package. A worker should obtain an employer’s reporting date rather than treating a long-range campus target as a job start.

Louisiana licensing, travel and payment checks

Louisiana’s contractor board says subcontractors bidding or performing covered commercial work need the appropriate license. The published thresholds include $50,000 or more for major and specialty classifications and $10,000 or more for electrical, mechanical and plumbing. The state’s current statutory definitions also use “ten thousand dollars or more” for those three trades.[14][25]

The statute’s project-value definition includes labor, materials, rentals and direct and indirect project expenses, regardless of who pays for them. Do not test a threshold using only your labor quote. Confirm the classification and licensing requirements with the board before bidding; a license from another state is not a reason to skip that check.[25]

These contractor requirements are separate from a worker’s training, trade credentials and employer onboarding. An OSHA card or apprenticeship certificate is not the same thing as the contracting company’s Louisiana license.

Before traveling, obtain written answers to these questions:

  • Who is the hiring employer, and what is the exact campus, building or utility site?
  • What are the base wage, overtime rules, expected hours and deductions?
  • Is lodging provided, reimbursed or entirely the worker’s responsibility? What conditions apply to per diem?
  • Are orientation, screening and travel days paid? When does the first paid shift begin?
  • Which credentials, tools and personal protective equipment must the worker bring?
  • What happens to lodging and travel commitments if the start date moves?

Before sending crews, agree on who approves invoices, when payment is due, how much is held until completion, and how changes are priced. Clarify who pays for testing, temporary utilities, equipment waiting time and rework. These are contract checks, not evidence of payment trouble at Hyperion.

Frequently asked questions

What do Hyperion construction jobs pay?

We did not verify a pay rate for each of the six listings in this report. Ask the employer for the base wage, overtime rules, expected weekly hours and deductions before accepting an offer. A rate reported for another contractor may not apply to your job.

Do Hyperion jobs include per diem or lodging?

We did not verify lodging or per diem for the six listed roles. Ask whether the employer provides housing, reimburses costs or expects you to pay. Get the amount, eligibility rules and any unpaid travel or orientation days in writing before booking a trip.

Can I apply without construction experience?

DPR’s concrete apprentice listing, JR-17691, specifies 0–2 years of experience. Its concrete labor listing requires 2–4 years, so a general-labor title does not always mean entry-level work. Read the full requirements and confirm eligibility with the employer.[29][30]

When should a new hire travel to the site?

Wait for the hiring employer to confirm your assignment, reporting date and gate or orientation address. The campus completion targets are not individual job start dates. Confirm pay, lodging and travel terms before leaving home.

Who are the general contractors for Meta Hyperion?

The general contractors are DPR Construction, Turner Construction Company and Mortenson. Meta names all three in its July 2026 expansion announcement.[1]

How can a Louisiana company seek subcontract work?

Start with Source Louisiana, which Meta designated as its primary local supplier channel.[1][11] Then use the relevant prime’s project inquiry and prequalification process. Registration does not guarantee a bid invitation or an award.[16][18]

Is there a public list of open Hyperion bid packages?

The pages inspected for this report provided supplier registration, trade-interest forms and qualification routes. We did not verify an open package with a current bid deadline. Request the package number, drawings and deadline from the responsible buyer before pricing work.[8][9][17]

Where should tradespeople look for Hyperion construction jobs?

Start with the three builders’ project hiring routes. This report includes three DPR listings linked from its Richland Parish page and three Mortenson Rayville-area leads. Confirm the exact assignment with the employer; the Mortenson descriptions do not name Hyperion.[5][9][22]

Does the 7,500-worker figure mean 7,500 jobs are open now?

No. Meta’s figure is a forecast for peak construction employment. It is not a current vacancy count, and the separate 1,000-role operations forecast applies after completion.[1]

What do $27 billion and $50 billion refer to?

Meta’s October 2025 joint-venture announcement described approximately $27 billion of development costs. The July 2026 expansion announced more than $50 billion in investment. They are dated scopes, not separate figures to add into a new campus total.[1][3]

Does supplier registration qualify a company for Entergy work?

Not by itself. Entergy maintains its own supplier-registration and sourcing process. Campus trade qualification does not establish eligibility for a utility generation or transmission package.[19]

What we are monitoring

The most useful additions will be named expansion subcontractors, active package deadlines, issued permits, dated craft calls, and changes to construction or power-delivery milestones. We will update the report when those developments can be verified, rather than treating every new announcement as an award or every job listing as a confirmed campus assignment.

For other buildouts, use the Echelon data center construction hub. The Meta Eagle Mountain report applies the same contractor-versus-worker approach to Utah, with a different project team and licensing requirements.

Sources and research method

This report uses Meta and Louisiana announcements, contractor scope statements, inspected supplier forms, employer job descriptions, trade organizations, current statutory definitions and the Louisiana PSC docket. CNBC supplies the attributed long-range campus targets; Business Insider supplies the separately credited training interviews.

Research was checked October 19, 2026. Announcement dates, job-posting dates and source-observation dates are separate. The job table is a selected set of inspected listings, not a complete vacancy inventory. No bid, application, supplier registration or outside inquiry was submitted. The review did not establish a complete subcontractor roster, all issued permits or a project-wide pay and travel agreement.
