Featured: Rocket Group Takes Clemmer Services, and the Founding Family Left the License Three Years Ago

Rocket Group announced July 1 that it has acquired Clemmer Services, a Barstow, California HVAC, plumbing, and indoor air quality contractor with more than 30 years in business. The deal is Rocket’s 14th acquisition and extends its residential footprint into Barstow, Santa Clarita, and the Inland Empire. The release reads like every platform release: an established regional provider, a national network, a new chapter.

The California license and personnel records add an earlier date to the announced Clemmer transaction.

What the license record shows

Clemmer’s CSLB license dates to 1992 and was listed in CLEAR status. The California personnel roster shows two members of the founding family disassociated from that license in spring 2023, roughly three years before Rocket announced its acquisition. Those departures precede the announcement; the record alone does not explain the deal structure or prove a sale was underway in 2023.

The full file runs deeper than that. The exact disassociation dates, the founder’s title progression from sole owner through Responsible Managing Officer to his final role, and what changed on the license the day the announcement went out are documented in this week’s Deal Ledger, with the record citations subscribers can verify themselves.

Echelon Database: the Clemmer file is drawn from 243,477 California license records now fully integrated into the database alongside the CSLB personnel roster, which is what makes principal and qualifier disassociations visible as dated events. A note on rigor: the roster also shows a similarly named construction company in Northern California. Different family, different company, excluded. Name matches are where sloppy intelligence goes wrong.

Greenix buys Essential Pest Control in Knoxville and Dayton

Greenix Pest Control announced on July 7 that it acquired Essential Pest Control, serving Knoxville, Tennessee and the Dayton, Ohio market. Greenix said the deal took it into its 21st state and past 300,000 households served. Knoxville adds a market; Dayton adds to a state where Greenix already operated. Buying routes in an existing market can add customers without opening a new territory. The announcement does not disclose a purchase price or establish the economics of the Dayton routes.

Bar chart of 460 active state-level trade licenses in the Dayton Ohio metro from the Echelon Database, 141 plumbing, 136 electrical, 130 HVAC, 29 hydronics, and 24 refrigeration, the operator base density buyers like Greenix are competing over
The Dayton operator base by trade, per the Ohio state roster.

Echelon Database: pest applicator credentials sit with the Ohio Department of Agriculture rather than the contractor boards, a licensing layer on the database’s expansion path. For separate context on regulated trades, the Ohio roster shows 460 active state-level trade licenses across the Dayton metro: 141 plumbing, 136 electrical, 130 HVAC, 29 hydronics and 24 refrigeration. These are a floor within Ohio’s local licensing patchwork, not a count of pest customers or routes bought by Greenix.

PestCo buys Arrow Pest Control in New Jersey

PestCo Holdings, a portfolio company of Thompson Street Capital Partners, announced July 9 it has acquired Arrow Pest Control of Morganville, New Jersey. Arrow has served residential and commercial customers across the state for more than 50 years, and the deal deepens PestCo’s New Jersey capability. Terms were not disclosed. The announcement does not establish a premium or the mix of Arrow’s revenue. A 50-year history alone cannot tell us what share of accounts is recurring. Owner Stewart Lenner spoke about his team’s future.

Echelon Database: a verification note in place of a data line. New Jersey is not yet a tracked state, and the only Arrow Pest Control in the database is a Redding, California construction firm operating the name as a secondary business, an unrelated company. We publish the miss because the discipline that catches a false name match is the same discipline that makes the true matches worth paying for.

LaunchPad Home Group Enters Seattle

LaunchPad Home Group announced its acquisition of Key Inspection Services on July 15. Key served the Seattle metro and Washington state, making the deal LaunchPad’s Pacific Northwest entry. Inspection is a distinct business from contracting. The transaction shows one inspection buyer entering that market; it does not establish when, or whether, trades platforms will follow.

Echelon had scoped Washington’s open-data license roster for a future weekly pipeline. The LaunchPad announcement does not by itself show new contractor-license movement in the state.

The Follow-Up Desk

Issue 001 made dated, checkable calls. This is where we report what the record did next. Announced deals get covered everywhere; watched licenses get covered here, and the full watch files run in the Deal Ledger.

Two Colorado electrical licenses share a September 30 expiration

Doctor Fix-It’s Colorado electrical license EC 100034 and Elkhorn Technical Resources’ electrical license EC 8150 both showed September 30, 2026 expirations after their October 1, 2023 renewals. Their shared deadline does not tell us which license Advantage Services Group will renew. The roster also lists discipline entries for both entities, including an entry dated months before the acquisition. The case numbers, dates and program actions are in this week’s Deal Ledger.

Two licenses share a September 30 expiration. Check a later roster for renewal; the shared date does not answer the integration question.

The Air Guys: the dark window gets an ending

Tennessee contractor license 74635, held by The Air Guys LLC, showed an April 30, 2026 expiration, after the February 23 close date recorded by PitchBook. The press release came later. The expired record calls for a check of subsequent licensing under a Founders entity; it does not establish how the business operated after expiration.

Juniper: quiet week, new date on the calendar

Neither Juniper entity changed in the Florida roster between July 10 and July 12. A qualifying credential for Juniper Landscaping of Florida LLC was due for renewal at the end of August. Renewal by itself is routine; a later status change would require a fresh record check. The holder and watch details are on the Deal Ledger calendar.

Desk Notes

Owens Corning: no movement. No reported development this week on Carlisle’s unsolicited pursuit. The next likely catalyst is Owens Corning’s second-quarter earnings call. We will cover it when the file moves, not before.

USMCA talks land Monday. The third round of review talks is set for July 20, with the March 2025 tariff exemption covering a range of HVAC and water-heating products still riding on an agreement now in rolling annual review. Equipment cost remains the line item with political risk attached, and every platform model in the trades carries it.

Processes open. Blackstone’s $2.5 billion Champions Group acquisition, announced in February with a close expected in the first half, is now at the edge of its stated window; confirmation should be near. American Residential Services’ reported sale exploration and USA Hometown Experts’ process remain open files, and QXO’s $17 billion TopBuild deal still points at a third-quarter close.

The Week in One Line

The Clemmer personnel dates preceded Rocket’s announcement; The Air Guys license expired after its reported deal close; and two Colorado electrical licenses shared one renewal date. These are different kinds of evidence, not a common sale signal. This week the Echelon Database reported 1,108,522 contractor and trade licenses across Ohio, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Colorado, Kentucky, California, Arizona and Virginia, plus 15,569 operator files across more than 50 municipalities. Issue 001 noted Virginia was not yet tracked when Sila Services bought Davis Heating and Air Conditioning. Virginia joined the tracked set later; the Davis file is now in the Deal Ledger.
